Amanda M. Villegas

Soprano

A native of California, soprano, Amanda will receive her Master of Music degree from Boston University in September 2006 where she studies with Penelope Bitzas. In February she performed the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni with Boston University's Opera Institute. Other roles include First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Madame Angele in The Tsar has his Photograph Taken by Kurt Weill,

the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and has covered Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, and Female Chorus in Benjamin Britten?s The Rape of Lucretia. Amanda is a recipient of a 2004 East Bay Opera League Young Artist Scholarship, Dorothy M MacDonald Scholarship, Honors in Vocal Perfromance from Boston University, and the Arrigo and Catherine DeScalzi Prize from Santa Clara University. Amanda graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University where she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
