Bryn Jimenez,

Mezzo Soprano

Bryn Jimenez, a Bay Area native, recently completed her Bachelor of Music degree in British Columbia. While residing in Canada, Miss Jimenez spent two years as a member of the Victoria Conservatory of Music's Opera Studio where she sang several roles, including "Stephano" in Romeo and Juliet and "Madam Z" in the premiere of Brother XII, an opera by Canadian composer Wes Wraggert. She was also seen as "Tessa" in The Gondoliers with
the Fraser Valley Gilbert and Sullivan Society, was a soloist in the Handel Society Choir's Messiah, and performed songs of Frederic Chopin in the Vancouver Academy of Music's Evening of Polish Music sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland. While completing her degree, Miss Jimenez won many accolades, including the Highest Mark Award for both her Grade 11 and Grade 12 recitals. She excelled in extra-curricular competitions, earning the overall first prize, most promising voice award, the melodie award, the concert group award, and the opera award in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and also earned a place in the semi-finals of the Concours de l'interpretation de la musique francaise de Montreal. Upon completing her degree, Miss Jimenez went to Salzburg, Austria to sing the role of Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte with the Amadeus Opernensamble. Since her return to the Bay Area, Miss Jimenez has been featured in various concerts and was a scholarship recipient in the 2006 East Bay Opera League competition. In the coming year, Ms. Jimenez has been invited to compete in the Vernocia Dunne International Singing Competition and will be appearing in Golden Gate Opera's Opera Gala.
